Brett Sanders
Senior Pastor

Brett Sanders grew up in Toccoa, GA and graduated from Stephens County High School in 2003. Brett went on to attend North Georgia College and State University and upon graduation he went on to complete a Master of Divinity program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Brett and his wife Katherine, also a native of Toccoa, have been married since 2007 and have three children, Jacob, Ressie, and Charlotte. 

Brett's mission statement is this, “I want to live a life where I am daily dying to the world and constantly living in light of what Christ has done for me, by foremost leading my family closer to God, and then discipling friends that God has placed in my life, so others who don’t know Christ will see Him through me.” 

 

Evan Alexander
Associate Pastor of Missions & Discipleship

Evan Alexander grew up near Toccoa, GA and graduated from Stephens County High School in 2011. Evan pursued his calling to ministry at Anderson University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry and a Masters of Divinity. Evan is married to Kristin, and they have two children: Caroline and Bryce.

Evan’s mission statement is to “proclaim Christ and develop mature disciples in Him through the local church (Colossians 1:28). I believe we accomplish this goal by equipping followers of Christ to win the lost, building them up in the body of Christ, and preparing them to be sent out as active missionaries in God’s mission.”

 

CLAY YOUNG
MINISTER OF MUSIC

Clay Young is originally from Dublin, Georgia. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting at Mercer University. Through his college years, Clay participated in many musical groups such as the Mercer Singers, the Mercer University Opera, Middle Georgia Choral Society, and Cross Brothers southern gospel quartet. Clay has won several awards for his vocal abilities including: finalist in the Georgia Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, category winner for the Georgia National Association of Teachers in Singing, and General Excellence in Music Award by the Townsend School of Music. He was featured as a tenor soloist for performances of Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and Mozart’s Requiem.

Clay’s mission statement is to provide an atmosphere of praise and worship that prepares the hearts of the congregation to receive what the Lord has in store. The purpose of the Music Ministry is to invite the presence of God so that we as His children may worship Him in spirit and in truth. Through singing and instrumentation, we want to lift up the name of Jesus so the world knows we as the body of Christ are unashamed of the Gospel and we desire to be in the presence of the Lord.

 

David McSwain
Youth Pastor

David McSwain is originally from Fayette County, Ga. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from the College at Southeastern and is starting his Master’s program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. David and his wife Paige have been married since the Summer of 2021. They enjoy playing soccer, disc golf, and walking everyday as well as reading through scripture together to grow their relationship with the Lord.

David’s Mission Statement is to, “Grow daily with Christ so that I am ready and equipped to disciple those I meet and carry out the Great Commission to further the name of Christ. A life of loving God and loving people leads to relationships centered around Christ where the like-minded goal is created to bring the Gospel to the nations.” 

 

Savannah Rothstein
Children’s Director

Savannah Fricks Rothstein is a native of Toccoa, Ga.  Graduating from Stephens County High School in 2009. Savannah married her husband, Justin Rothstein, in 2012. She is the mom of three incredible kids, Jack Dallas, Charlee Kay, and Carter Cash.  Savannah has been working in children’s ministry since high school. Before moving to First Baptist Toccoa, Savannah was both the Children’s Church Director and the Children’s Director at New Bethel Baptist in Carnesville, Ga where she served for 8 years.  

Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” is the mission statement of Savannah’s ministry and for the FBC Kids.
